In 2015, this branch of the famous Parisian museum arrived on our shores. Malaga residents and visitors were able to experience the Centre Pompidou thanks to its rich collections, excellent programming and multidisciplinary proposals.

This artistic centre was a milestone for the city and the French branch since it is the first time this institution is implemented abroad. This commitment of the Pompidou Museum in Paris has been a success, as shown by its nearly 1,000,000 visitors.

Located in front of the sea, in the surroundings of Muelle 1, the Centre Pompidou stands out with its multicoloured cube by the French artist Daniel Buren. Today “El Cubo” is a symbol of the city and its cultural transformation in the last decade. And this profitable collaboration between Malaga and art has come to stay since Malaga’s City Council and the President of the Centre Pompidou recently signed an agreement to extend the presence of this museum in Malaga until 2025.

In the coming years, the Centre Pompidou will work to bring art exhibitions to Malaga with pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries: temporary exhibitions, dance, concerts, cinema, conferences and workshops are just some of the art centre’s proposals to keep visitors in direct contact with the local and national art scene.
